Lashkar-e-Taiba Operative Gunned Down

New Delhi: Razaullah Nizamani Khalid, also known as Abu Saifullah Khalid, a prominent figure in Lashkar-e-Taiba, was shot dead by three unidentified assailants in Sindh, Pakistan, on Sunday, according to officials.

Khalid was notorious for orchestrating the 2006 attack on the RSS headquarters and had been leading terror operations for Lashkar-e-Taiba from Nepal in the early 2000s. He was known by several aliases, including Vinode Kumar and Mohammed Salim.

On the day of his death, he left his home in Matli and was ambushed near a crossing in Badni, where he was fatally shot.

A close associate of Abu Anas, Khalid was the mastermind behind the attack on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Nagpur, where all three attackers were killed.

In addition to the RSS incident, he played a role in the 2005 terror attack at the Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru, which resulted in the death of IIT professor Munish Chandra Puri and injuries to four others.

The attackers managed to flee the scene, and police later filed charges against Abu Anas, who remains at large.

Khalid was also responsible for the 2008 assault on a CRPF camp in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, which claimed the lives of seven personnel and a civilian, with the attackers escaping under the cover of night.

From the mid-2000s, he led the Nepal module of Lashkar-e-Taiba, focusing on recruiting new members, providing financial and logistical support, and facilitating the movement of operatives across the Indo-Nepal border.

He collaborated closely with key figures in Lashkar-e-Taiba, including Azam Cheema and Yaqoob, the group's chief accountant.

After Indian security forces exposed his operations in Nepal, Khalid returned to Pakistan, where he continued to work with various leaders of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jamaat-ud-Dawah, including Yusuf Muzammil, the commander for Jammu and Kashmir.

His responsibilities included recruiting new members from the Badin and Hyderabad districts of Sindh and raising funds for the organization.

Reports from Sindh indicate that Khalid was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital, with some sources suggesting personal enmity as a possible motive for the attack.
